Exceptional and Powerful” Folk Radio UK

“Melodies that haunt and lyrics that touch the soul” Folk Words

AMY DUNCAN, originally a classically trained double bassist ( RSAMD and RNCM), is a Scottish music artist who writes emotive songs, often dark, but ultimately uplifting.  With haunting melodies and intimate lyrics,  Amy’s spellbinding voice makes powerful connections with her audience.

Her 4th album ‘Cycles of Life’ was produced by Calum Malcolm, and released on Linn Records in 2013 and since then Amy was chosen by Showcase Scotland as one of 2 Scottish acts to perform at the Eastern Canadian Music Alliance (2014) and was part of the Made In Scotland Showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 and 2014.

Amy’s 5th album ‘Undercurrents’ (2016) was funded by Creative Scotland and through her Pledge Music crowdfunding campaign. The album received wide BBC Radio play and was recently featured in Folk Radio UK Top Ten Albums of 2016. ‘My Silver Net’ from the album was one of the Top 100 in the 2017 Salute Music Competition out of 3,000 entries.

Amy composed the string arrangements on ‘Cycles of Life’ and ‘Undercurrents’ which were played by members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She also played piano, guitar and double bass.

Amy’s 6th album Antidote was released on 7 April 2017 on her own label Filly Records with distribution through Proper Music. It was crowdfunded through Pledge Music, self recorded and produced, with additional mixing and mastering by Calum Malcolm.
